At the helm of the latest addition to the Gitana fleet, an emblem of the new generation of flying maxis, the sailor from Nice set sail as one of the race favourites. However, on the first night, his starboard float suffered major damage, the bow ripped off across an 8-metre section. Geared up for an express but full-on passage

Some 48 hours till the big day itself, scheduled for Sunday at 13:00 GMT offshore of the Pointe du Grouin, the weather scenario is revealing its initial trends. Gitana Team's routing cell, which will accompany Sébastien Josse remotely day and night throughout his crossing, is already in action. With a medium to strong southerly wind of 15-20 knots, which could well serve up some relatively ordered seas beyond the areas churned up by the spectator boats, the start of this 11th edition promises to...

For four years, Julien Gatillon, the two-star Michelin chef of Le 1920 restaurant in Megève*, has been working with the Gitana Team on this incredibly important element. Thanks to his talent, Julien is improving the daily life of the solo sailor, contributing in this way to the adventure that Sébastien Josse is preparing to take on.

The latest generation Maxis: giant and flying!

Since 2010, gigantic proportions have made their grand comeback in the Route du Rhum.
